I found this loose tape in the bottom of a beat-up shoebox. Sticker faded. Plastic scuffed. No case. No instructions. Just a title: Night of the Sentinels. What played was revolutionary. This was how my father met the X-Men — not in theaters, not online, but through a Pizza Hut promotion in the early 1990s.
 
He labeled it Artifact 0017, but honestly? He didn’t need to. This was his origin story.
 
Inside the shell, in tiny pen, he had written:
“First time I felt seen.”
 
In 2038, difference is digitized and sorted. Rebellion is an algorithm. But this tape? This was about mutants being hunted for being real. This was where he learned resistance.
