The world in this book was fiction.
Then it became prophecy.
Now it’s just Tuesday.
When I found this early copy of Ready Player One, I thought it was a video game guide. Turns out, it’s something more dangerous: a warning written before the collapse. This is an Advanced Reading Copy, printed before the book officially launched — a version shared with reviewers and insiders.
My father marked it Artifact 0004. He underlined the part where Wade would rather live in a crumbling trailer than face his real life. His note read:
“Don’t let comfort become your cage.”
In 2038, no one questions the simulation. But this book — and my father's message — made me wonder if the prize we’re chasing is freedom… or just another layer of control.
